Invoicing

An invoice in the time it takes to make coffee

Pick a client, add what you did, press send. Tallyroot fills in your details, your payment terms and the next invoice number, and gives your client a link they can pay from.

Send your first invoice

Hours, days or a fixed fee

Bill by the hour, by the day or by the project. Paste hours from a time-tracking CSV and Tallyroot turns them into line items.

Deposits and milestones

Split a project into a deposit and later payments. Each milestone becomes its own invoice when you mark the work delivered.

Recurring retainers

Set a monthly retainer once. Tallyroot sends it on the same day every month and tells you when it's been paid.

Tax lines that add up

Add sales tax, GST or VAT per line or per invoice. Rates you use are saved so you don't have to look them up again.

What your client gets

A short email from your name with a link to the invoice. The link opens a clean page with your logo, the line items, the due date and a pay button. If their finance team needs a file, there's a PDF on the same page, and a copy is attached to the email.

  • Currencies: USD, CAD, EUR, GBP and AUD
  • Invoice numbers in your own format, like STUDIO-2026-014
  • Notes and payment terms saved per client
  • You see when the client opened the invoice

Next: make sure it gets paid

Invoices are half the job. Reminders handle the other half.
